True North Miniatures
April 2005.
Dear Customers: So, I figure all of you have been in this little special hell where I have not updated this site since June of last year.when I sold TRUE NORTH PRODUCTIONS to Don Perrin, Michael Cosentino and Kathryn Plambeck of Legio X (http:www.truenorthminis.com, also the home of the new "Historical Miniature Gamer" magazineand Bicorne Miniatures as well!). A lot has happened since that time. I had a heart attack on July 30 last year, and subsequently went in for successful quintuple by-pass surgery. I spent from August to January recovering, and also thinking a lot about what I was doing, why I was doing it, how I was doing it.and what I needed to change. Quite something to go thru, but I think I have emerged in far better shape than I was before. Enough of that tho, sowhat am I to do now? First things first, I am changing the name of the companyDon has the rights to use "True North"so, I will now call it "The Really Useful Figure Company" (with apologies to Andrew Lloyd Webberbut hey, as long as I don't write too many successful, smash hit stage shows, I should be ok.). So, what does that mean for figures? Good question..I will be slowly completing my Napoleonic rangeso, look forward to me moulding all those neat things: Field forge, ambulances, Prussian Towarczys etc. In addition to these, I will also be exploring some other scales, primarily 1/72, and probably 10mm. I have a bunch of new sculptors to try out (I've known most of them for awhile now, as well as their work, but never had a place for them in True North..). I intend on producing single or group "one offs" to augment existing lines in 15mm, 1/72 and probably 10mm, so I will be taking that where my fancy lies.as I really don't have to be concerned any more about "commercial viability".it's really going to be dependant on what isn't out there, what I want and where my interest goes, and what others won't make (so, that leaves me loads of room!). I have a whack of suggestions from people...all extremely interestingso, if you have any..tell me, and just maybe your wish will be granted by the "TRUFC" gnomes!! Many of you will recognize this philosophy as a more extreme extension of that which I espoused as "True North Productions"..ie: producing ranges and figures that no one else wanted to do, which also matched my own interests..which is why I did Poles, Dutch etcand I have many more interests! Good Gaming! Dave Jackson |
